Another evening of live music in the park for the Sherburne community

Sherburne – The Sherburne Rotary Club will continue its 26th annual summer concert series in Gaines Park. Everyone is welcome to attend the event for some musical entertainment from local bands and performers.
Later this evening, July 29th at 6 p.m., the Smyrna Citizens Band lead by, Red Raville, will be performing in the Gaines Park for the event. This group features more than 40 musicians ranging in all ages. This year marks the 89th year of performing for this group.
Next Wednesday, August 5th at 6p.m. will mark the final concert in the series for the summer. This last evening of music in the park will feature Kaitlyn Jackson and Hometown. Kaitlyn Jackson is a local Norwich high-school student, and American Idol Season 13 Contestant. Jackson has been performing for various local events throughout the summer.
“I am so appreciative to perform for another community event. Local events are so much fun because I can really just let loose and enjoy myself on stage. I'm comfortable with the area and the people. I just hope the fun I'm having translates to the audience,” said Jackson.
There have been a total of three bands/performers previously who have played this summer at the this summer concert series. Mountain Quickstep, who performed music from the 'mountains' bringing a variety of folk, clog dancing, and fiddle music to the people of Sherburne. Followed by, Jared Campbell, who is a single person performer who tries to bring positive messages through his music to the youth. Last weeks performers were a group called The Horn Dogs.
“We've had some great performers so far this summer, but last week we had The Horn Dogs perform, they were very impressive, they really got the Sherburne crowd going, said Sherburne Rotary Club member, Marsha Gruzwich.
Food will be available at the Rotary food booth. A 50/50 raffle also takes place each wednesday night, with the winner receiving half the prize money and the other half being donated to the local food pantry.
“This is a big project put on by the Rotary members who all put in a fair amount of time to bring this event to the community. This summer concert series helps serve as a great form of entertainment for all, while also serving as a great fundraiser to help support the local food pantry and events like the Youth Exchange as well as many other projects throughout the year. Our hope is to get people out in the community and together, while also bringing some familiar and new music into their lives,” said Gruzwich.
The Sherburne Rotary Club would like to thank all who attended and help make this event possible. They would also like to thank all of their sponsors including: Service Pharmacy, Gilligan’s Island, NBT Bank, Gurguss and Todesco Funeral Homes, Gayle Hellert, Bill Tammaro, Big M Supermarket, Taylor Law Office, Bruce Webster, Kenyan Press, Clippinger Law Office, Nina's Italian Grill, Mid-York Press, Golden Artist Colors, Tecnofil, and Mid York Distributers.
The Sherburne Rotary Club would like everyone to bring a chair or blanket and come enjoy some music and food for an evening of entertainment.
In case of unfavorable weather, the event will be relocated to the Sherburne Firehouse of the SEC school auditorium.
