Following weeks of preparation the Norwich City Band will continue free Friday Concerts

NORWICH– The Norwich City Band will be performing in downtown Norwich the next three Fridays of the summer. The Norwich City Band is made of adults and young people alike from around the area, all of which are conducted by Gary Solomon. This year marks Solomon's 11th year conducting the group, while also working as the band director for Sherburne-Earlville elementary school for the past 29 years.
“We actually had 57 participants in the band last week, and the numbers seem to be growing each week, as well as the crowd that gathers to listen to our performance,” said Gary Solomon, Conductor of the Norwich City band.
This year marks the Norwich City Bands second year governed by a board of trustees, including: President, Chris Robb, Vice President Jim Butterfield, Secretary Becky Sabin, and Treasurer Ed Audas.
Concerts will be each Friday at 7:00 p.m., tonight July 31st, August 7th, and August 14th. Concerts will be rain or shine at the East Park, located across from the Court House in downtown Norwich.
The downtown musical performance put on each week by the Norwich City Band is funded by, the City of Norwich, R.C. Smith Foundation, and the Greater Norwich Fund. They would like to thank all funded the events as well as all who choose to come out to support the band as well.
“Bring a lawn chair, we want everyone to come enjoy the music free of charge,” said Solomon.
