Manhunt continues for two suspects at large
WHITNEY POINT – While three Florida men have been charged with numerous felonies following a lengthy motor vehicle pursuit through several towns and two counties, New York State Police are still on the lookout for two other men they sad fled on foot on Friday in Whitney Point.
The incident began Friday night when State Troopers from Homer on patrol in Cortland County spotted a vehicle that had been “flagged” with an "attempt to locate" notice out of Oneida County for questioning in a suspected bank fraud.
Troopers proceeded to follow the 2015 Kia Sorrento and its five passengers, and the pursuit of the vehicle ended on the northbound ramp of Interstate 81 – the opposite direction of travel– in Whitney Point. Authorities say that this is when the five occupants abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot into a densely wooded area near the Dorchester Park area.
Troopers were able to locate and apprehend three of the occupants, identified as 18-year-old Denzel Sanon, 28-year-old Brandon Williams and 24-year-old Brandon Smith; but have indicated that two other men were still on the loose as of press time.
Public Information Officer Nathan Reigal with the State Troopers said that the men in custody are not cooperating to assist in identifying the two additional occupants and that the three suspects were Florida residents, and allege that they were found to be in possession of multiple stolen credit cards and identification cards of several people throughout the U.S.
Sanon, Williams and Smith were arraigned in the town of Fenton court and remanded to the Broome County jail pending a bail hearing.
“We are looking to the public to assist us in finding to additional persons of interest in the investigation,” said Reigal. “These men were seen outside of a business in the Whitney Point area when the incident occurred.”

Ryan Reynolds, Mayor of Whitney Point said that the men at large “Do not have a history of violence,” but likewise urged residents to take normal safety precautions such as locking doors, cars and windows.
