Third annual Bands, Brew and BBQ lineup announced
NORWICH – A must-attend event is making its way back to the Chenango County fairgrounds for a third round of hearty entertainment, backyard barbecue and brew.
The third annual Catholic Charities Bands, Brew and BBQ Brewfest taking place once again at the Chenango County Fairgrounds in Norwich on September 19.
Back by popular demand, the day of music, food and craft beer is foremast a fundraiser for Catholic Charities; with all proceeds directly benefiting Roots and Wings and other programs offering assistance to hundreds of Chenango County families facing hunger or economic insecurities and those with both physical or mental disabilities each year.
The event serves as the largest fundraising effort for the Roots and Wings' food pantry located in Norwich; who in 2014 served more than 6,000 Chenango County households – equivalent to 221,325 meals.
At least five BBQ vendors will be on site offering an array of mouth-watering fare including smoked brisket, pulled pork, barbecued chicken and spiedies.
A healthy list of local entertainment the likes of Jes Sheldon and the Lightkeepers, Mike Davis and the Laughing Buddha Episodes, The Horseshoe Lounge Playboys and Bruce Beadle Sr. will break in the stage for national headliner Jimmy VanZant Band, slated for the 6 p.m. slot.
A number of local breweries, wineries and cideries will offer tastings of their finest products throughout the day. A book of five “tasting tickets” will be included with the event ticket purchase, redeemable for beverage samplings at each of the guest vendors. As a fail-safe, additional tasting tickets will be issued to unimpaired individuals by event staff for additional sampling.
Additionally, Chenango County-based hops growers, home-brewers and craft beer brewers will offer educational demonstrations and informative dialogue. Half-Tapped Brew Club of Norwich will likewise be brewing on-site beginning at 2 p.m. and sampling at least five varieties of craft beer throughout the day.
