Following police chase, Oxford man held without bail, one trooper sent to hospital
GREENE – A New York State Trooper was sent to the hospital following a short police chase with an Oxford man.
Damion J. Burns, 42, of Oxford, was arrested on August 28, 2015.
Burns was observed by members of the New York State Police in Norwich speeding in his vehicle on Route 12 in Greene. The simple traffic stop evolved into a police chase, however, only lasting for one minute and covering the distance of one mile, before the officer was able to actually pull Burns’ vehicle over, ending the chase.
There were no injuries resulting from the police chase itself, however, the New York State Trooper’s patrol vehicle was damaged by the defendant’s actions at the end of the pursuit.
