SHERBURNE - This weekend the Sherburne-Earlville girls’ varsity soccer team hosted a tournament on the Sherburne field. The Marauders won their first game, but lost in the championship.

Their first game of the weekend was on Friday, September, 4 against Unatego. The game would be tied at the end of regulation and would go into overtime. At the end of the first overtime the score was again tied and would be forced into double overtime where S-E finally came out on top 3-2.

Sierra Barker opened the scoring in the first half for S-E with a penalty kick, with an assist from Morgan Simpson. A little later in the half S-E’s Taylor Coughlin made it 2-0 before a Unatego score cut the lead to 2-1 going into half time.

In the second half of play, Unatego’s Bailey Faulkner tied the game in the 2nd half to send the game to overtime. With 4:30 left in the 2nd overtime Coughlin took a pass from Savannah Irwin and buried it to end the game and send The Marauder girls on to the championship game on Saturday night vs. Central Valley Academy.

SHERBURNE - In the S-E girls’ second game of the weekend they fell short to Central Valley Academy 7-4 in the championship game of their tournament.
