Authorities: Men had heroin, pills, needles and spoons
NORTH NORWICH – Two men were arrested Wednesday and now face drug charges, as authorities allege the two were in possession of heroin, pills and paraphernalia.
The Narcotics Division of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office was conducting an investigation that led to the arrest of 44-year-old Shannon Hunter and 45-year-old William Miller at approximately 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.
With the assistance of CCSO road patrol deputies and CCSO K9 Jeroen, detectives stopped a 2012 Hyundai Elantra just off of State Highway 12 in North Norwich.
Authorities said Hunter, of Oxford, was the passenger of the vehicle and was found to be in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.
The driver of the vehicle, Miller, from Gilbertsville, was said to be in possession of Hydrocodone pills and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities said, “The vehicle was stopped in conjunction with the active investigation taking place.” No further details with regard to the stop were released.
Hunter has been charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell in the third degree, a class B felony.
Miller was charged with criminal sale of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony.
Miller is accused of possessing 27 Hydrocodone pills.
The amount of heroin allegedly possessed by Hunter is unknown. It was said by authorities that he was charged with intent to sell because “the heroin he was found to be in possession of was to be sold.”
Members of the CCSO added that the paraphernalia located included both needles and spoons.
Hunter and Miller were arraigned in the Village of Sherburne Court and were remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.
Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride assisted with the investigation.
