Norwich soccer falls to Johnson City, while UV soccer triumphs over Oxford

NORWICH - In a home match yesterday, September, 15, the Norwich girls’ varsity soccer team lost to Johnson City in a 1-0 heart breaker.

Johnson City came out strong and peppered the Norwich defense with shots all game, finishing with a total of 21. Their lone goal didn’t come until 20 minutes into the second half when Brittney Brand put a shot acrosss her body and into the far left corner of the goal. “We had a pretty solid defensive day,” said Norwich coach Adam Sprague. “JC was really on top of us most of the game and I’m proud of the way that the girls played.”

Norwich had their fair share of opportunities to score throughout the game but couldn’t quite get the right bounce to go in. After most shot attempts a Johnson City defender was right on top of the ball to prevent it from going anywhere.

Norwich will play again this Saturday, September, 19, when they host Seaton Catholic.

OXFORD - Last night, Tuesday, September, 15, the Unadilla Valley Storm girls' varsity soccer team traveled to Oxford to take on the Blackhawks. The game ended with a score of 3-0 in favor of UV.
