New York Pizzeria Tournament


NEW BERLIN - In the New York Pizzeria Tournament this weekend hosted by Unadilla Valley the Storm girls came away as the champions. In the championship game UV played against Bainbridge-Guilford and won 2-0.

In the first half of the game the Storm's Sierra Badger and Shelby Meade both scored early in an offensive win for UV. Two goals were all that was needed in a shut out for the UV women who would finish with 16 shots and two saves on the day. "Overall we played great this weekend," said Unadilla Valley Coach Diane Hayes. "I couldn't be more proud of this team. We played hard and came away with a great victory."

The UV girls are back at it again today when they travel to face Unatego.

Individual statistics: UV; Sierra Badger, 1 goal. Shelby Meade, 1 goal. Maggie Merlo, 2 saves.

Team statistics: B-G; goals, 0. Assists, 0. Shots, 4. Corner kicks, 1. Saves, 6. UV; goals, 2. Assists, 0. Shots, 16. Corner kicks, 4. Saves, 2.


Greene Tournament


GREENE - In a tournament hosted by the Greene boys varsity soccer team, Greene would go on to win their own tournament after beating Chenango Forks in the finals in double overtime.


In the first round of action Chenango Forks would play Sherburne-Earlville and win handily 5-0.
