Flash flood warning in effect: Up to four inches of rain possible by Wednesday
CHENANGO COUNTY – The National Weather Service along with Weather Underground has issued a flood watch for all of Chenango County with an increased emphasis placed on homes and communities near large streams, creeks and the Chenango River.
According to the NWS, the latest succession of clear, sunny days and crisp fall nights will come to an end, and the persistently dry conditions have left much of central NY well below its usual rainfall levels for the year – by nearly four inches.
Given drier than usual conditions, the increased potential for flash flooding has prompted officials from the Chenango County Emergency Management to post the watch in conjunction with NWS in effect from 4 p.m. Tuesday to noon on Wednesday.
