Norwich tennis wins on senior night

NORWICH - On Norwich's senior night, Tuesday, October 6, the girls varsity tennis team hosted Chenango Valley and won 6-1.
On her senior night Norwich's lone senior Marysa Campbell beat her opponent in singles play in straight sets 6-1;6-3 finishing her regular season with a winning record of 6-5. Also winning in singles play were Makenzie Maynard and Caroline Stewart.
In doubles play both Norwich teams defeated their opponents on their way to a 6-1 match victory.
Norwich will now play Chenango Forks in a winner take all match for the Eastern Division at Chenango Forks.

OXFORD - In a match last night, Tuesday, October 6, the Oxford girls' varsity soccer team hosted Unatego and lost 6-0.
In the first half of the match the visitors scored the bulk of their points. Unatego scored four of their six points in the first half. Leading the team was Tanner Reid, scoring two goals and two assists. Also scoring twice for Unatego was Jenna Bullis.
The Blackhawk girls will play again today when they travel to Unadilla Valley.

SHERBURNE - On Tuesday, October 6, the Sherburne-Earlville girls' varsity soccer team hosted Clinton in a match that they would lose 3-1.
In the first half S-E would score their only goal of the game. Taylor Coughlin would take the ball downfield and sneak a shot past the Clinton goal keeper and in for the goal. Clinton would score twice to end the half with the visitors up 2-1.
In the second half Clinton would score again to give the game its final score of 3-1.
S-E plays again Thursday, October 6, when they travel to Adirondack.

In the first set Norwich lost 25-21, this was the closest of the three sets.Leading the majority of the set, Norwich's players laid the ground work for their impressive stats throughout the match.
At the conclusion of the match Norwich's Jessica Dye earned seven digs, Meghan Komendarek had two aces and two kills, and Kara Evans had three kills and one block.
The remaining two sets were won by Owego 25-12.
Norwich plays again tomorrow, Thursday, October 8, when they travel to Owego.

Looking dominant in three sets, Delhi started their victory with a 25-10 win. For Greene Heaven Parrish, Emily Montelione, and Miranda McCrady all posted statistics in aces, kills, and blocks.
The last two sets were won by Delhi 25-18 and 25-19.
Greene will play again Friday, October 6, when they travel to Sidney.

BAINBRIDGE - Hosting Unatego Tuesday, October 6, the Bainbridge-Guilford girls’ varsity volleyball team won in three straight sets.
The first set B-G looked the most dominant, winning 25-10. The next two seemed harder to win for B-G, winning 25-12 and 25-18.
Leading the way for the Bobcats were Erica Selfridge and Zamira Caldwell. Selfridge earned five aces and 17 assists throughout the night, while Caldwell had six kills and two blocks.
B-G is now 9-1 overall on the season and will play at Oxford on Friday, October 9.
