Norwich boys soccer loses 5-1 on senior night

SIDNEY - On Monday, October 5, the Norwich boys’ varsity soccer team traveled to Sidney to take on the Warriors. After the final whistle, Norwich came out on top by a score of 3-2.
Throughout the course of the game Norwich’s Pablo Rojas and Luis Diaz accumulated the three goals for the Tornado. Rojas finished the day with two, one on a cross from Gabe Gawronski that turned into a Rojas header which whizzed past the goal keeper and in for the score.
Diaz would finish with one goal but made what may have been one of the most important plays of the game. With time running out in the second half Sidney was down one score with a chance to tie it up. From a corner kick the Warriors sailed a shot dangerously close to the Norwich goal only to be deflected by Diaz. Time would expire and Norwich would go home winners.
Norwich played for the second time this week last night at home on their senior recognition night.

NORWICH - In their second game this week on Wednesday, October 7, the Norwich boys varsity soccer team took on Windsor and lost 5-1. The night was also senior recognition night where they honored Norwich's seniors.
Norwich seniors Ethan Lestico and Dan Macintosh both played for the Purple Tornado.
Windsor came ready to play and scored five goals over the course of the game. Earning a hat trick on the night was Arron Williams, scoring his three goals. Also scoring for Windsor was Ricardo Sanaberia and Sebastian Wells.
Norwich's lone goal was scored by Luis Diaz. Diaz was fed the ball from a crossed corner kick which he redirected into the goal for a score.
Norwich plays again Tuesday, October 13, when they travel to Chenango Valley.

CHENANGO FORKS - The Norwich girls varsity soccer team traveled to Chenango Forks yesterday, October 7, to play in a match that would end with a score of 5-0 in favor of Forks.
In the first half Chenango Forks’ Makenna Williams and Megan Levassor both scored goals to put the Blue Devils up 2-0 going into the locker room.
The next half was all Forks, scoring three more goals and tallying 17 shots over the course of the game.
For Norwich, goal keeper Kassidy Seary earned 12 saves attempting to contain Chenango Forks’ offense. What little offense Norwich had came from their one shot of the game by Michaela Fazio.
The Tornado girls play again this Saturday, October 10, when they host Chenango Valley.

Greene/Bainbridge-Guilford

GREENE - Hosting Bainbridge-Guilford, the Greene girls varsity soccer team would fall 2-0.
In the first half of play B-G’s Cassidy Graham would get things started and net her lone goal of the game. This would ultimately be the game winner for the Bobcats.
The second half was much of the same with Dina Cordes finding her way past the B-G defense and taking a pass from Graham which she would direct into the net.
The two teams meet again Friday, October 9, in a rematch in Bainbridge.

Bainbridge-Guilford/Unadilla Valley

BAINBRIDGE - In a home match Wednesday, October 7, the Bainbridge-Guilford boys varsity soccer team hosted Unadilla Valley in a match that would go to B-G, 2-0.
The first half of play saw neither team reach the goal, the teams went into the locker room with a 0-0 tie.
Coming out strong in the second half B-G scored their first goal just 6:30 into the half. Xavier Turniack would take a corner kick which sailed to Trevor Halaquist who then headed the ball past the UV goal keeper and in for the game winner. Turniack would net a goal later in the half as well.
Unadilla Valley’s goal keeper Adam Lamont would register 12 saves in a stellar performance on the night.
UV plays again tomorrow, Friday, October 9, when they travel to Afton, while B-G plays again tomorrow when they host Greene.

Sherburne-Earlville

ADIRONDACK - The Sherburne-Earlville boys varsity soccer team traveled to Adirondack on Wednesday, October 7, for a match that they would ultimately lose 3-0.
After a scoreless first half Adriondack’s Dawson Green would go on to score three straight goals, earning a hat trick on the night. Green was assisted by Gavin Merriam for just one of his goals.
On defense S-E did what they could to stop Green and Adirondack with goal keeper Thad Karaman registering 9 saves.
S-E will play again tomorrow at the Sauquiot tournament at 6:00 P.M.
