NORWICH – After a long hiatus, the newly re-formed Mid York Concert Band (MYCB) played its first concert last spring of 2015.

This fall, retired Norwich High School orchestra director, Mark Sands, was selected to take the helm as director.

Sands said, “There are a number of summer bands in our area, Norwich, Oxford, Smyrna and Sidney to name a few. However, there is a lack of opportunities for these musicians to perform during the year.”

His hope is that the many summer musicians in the area will take the opportunity to check out and join the MYCB. Sands explained that at the present time the band is open to all community members of at least high school level with a medium advanced capability of NYSSMA level 4 and above.
