S-E boys soccer closes out season

CANASTOTA - Wednesday, October 14, marked the final game of the season for the Sherburne-Earlville boys varsity soccer team. Traveling to Canastota the Marauder boys lost their final game 5-2.
In the first half of the game, Canastota jumped out to an early 4-1 lead over S-E. Cole Olsen scored the first goal with a little help from Tyler Rodriguez. The S-E defense did all that they could against a Canastota team that tallied 16 shots over the course of the game. Goal keeper Thad Karaman registered 13 saves, stopping as man shots as he could.
The second half went much better for the Marauders, keeping Canastota to only one goal and scoring one themselves. Ben Rinaldo scored the S-E goal in the second half off of an assist from Rodriguez.
S-E closes out their season with a 2-12-1 record overall and is already looking ahead to competing next season.

As the first half ended S-E was up 3-2 on the home team. Standing out for the Marauders were Taylor Coughlin and Savannah Irwin, both athletes earned hat tricks over the course of the game.
In the second half S-E wouldn’t let up, scoring four more goals and giving the game its final score of 7-4. Canatota’s Deanna Carlone would go on to score twice, helping her team get to a total of four goals.

BINGHAMTON - On Tuesday, October 13, the Norwich boys cross country team competed in the STAC division championships at Cole Park in Binghamton. Norwich Placed fifth overall and had one runner place in the top ten.
Norwich’s Marcus Cahsman, a freshman, placed sixth overall in the STAC championship, running an 18:57 for the five kilometer course. Also competing for Norwich were Noah Bufalini, Stanton Baker, Jacob Russell, Zayn Harper, Kody Harrison, Michael Cardoza, John Matlack-Grey, Salah Mberwa, and Graham Rudy.
The young Purple Tornado team competed against many more experienced schools but still held thier own.

Junior runner Ben Ericksen finished seventh in the meet and ran a 17:38. Also finishing for the Purple Tornado were Noah Bufalini, Connor Nichols, Jacob Russell, and Stanton Baker.

Bainbridge-Guilford
BAINBRIDGE - Hosting Sidney, Wednesday, October 14, the Bainbridge-Guilford girls volleyball team won on their senior recognition night, 3-0.
On a night where B-G honored their three graduating seniors, Lindsey Castle, Montessa Warner, and Kristen Warren, and one graduating junior, Alyssa Hovey, the Bobcat women would dominate the floor against their opponent. In the first game B-G defeated Sidney 25-14 handily. In the second game Sidney made the game a little more difficult, but the outcome was the same with B-G winning 25-18.
Leading the team for B-G was Erica Selfridge. Selfridge earned six aces and 16 assists over the course of the match. In the third game B-G downed thier opponent 25-17, effectively winning the match.
The Bobcat women are 12-1 on the season and 11-1 in league play and will play in the MAC tournament next week and is anticipating a sectionals run.

OXFORD - Hosting Unatego on Wednesday, October 14, the Oxford volleyball team lost in a tough match 3-1.
In the first game Oxford was rolled over by Unatego, 25-14, but would come back the next game to win 25-13 and tie things up. Oxford was lead by Aimee Greenman who earned two aces and three digs over the course of the night and by Lala Quintana who had three kills and three digs on the match.
The third game went to Unatego 25-13 as they regained control of the match. Oxford kept the final game close but could not get the win, losing 25-22.
Oxford is now 3-7 on the season and will play again today when they travel to Deposit.
