Cyclone “B” Undefeated League Champions

NORWICH – The Cyclone “B” Team downed the Camden Blue Devils 33-12 at home on Sunday, October 18, to finish the regular season as undefeated League Champions. The Cyclone “B” Team will play in the League playoffs next weekend as the number one seed.
The Cyclones scored out of the gate with three touchdowns in the opening four minutes. Griffin Mills took the opening kickoff 41 yards to the 29 yard line. Mills then hit Jaden Jenkins on a 21 yard pass, bringing the ball to the 8 yard line. Cameron Byrne reached pay dirt on an 8 yard run for the touchdown only 32 seconds into the game.
Michael Squires recovered the ensuing kickoff at the 48. Andrew Mullen brought home the second Cyclone touchdown on a 17-yard run and kicked the two-point point after touchdown.
On the next kickoff, Mullen recovered at the visitor’s 45 yard line. Squires reached the end zone on a 9-yard run to the Cyclones up 20-0, four minutes into the game. The Blue Devils had yet to touch the ball on offense.
Mason Edwards reached pay dirt on a six-yard run in the second quarter to put the Cyclones up 26-0.
Mills connected with Jaden Jenkins on a 27-yard TD pass and added a point after on a pass to Dylan Bresee. This ended Cyclone scoring, and had the team up 33-6 at the half.
Mills was 5 for 5 passing for 83 yards, and rushed for 64 yards on four carries.
On offense, Elyssa Bresee had her first reception on a 15-yard catch, while Squires continued his defensive dominance with Dylan Bresee, Izaiah Caballero, Byrne, Mills, Mullen, Ben Glanville, and Jared Houck also playing Big D. Bryant Switzer pulled down an interception.
The Cyclone “C” Team downed Camden 32-6. As with the B Team, the “C” Team struck early with Kyle Pounds reaching the end zone on a 20-yard scamper 1:38 into the game.
Scoring continued when Trey Bates hit Quincy Carnachan on a 15-yard TD pass. Landon Stone reach pay dirt on a 43-yard TD run for an 18-0 Cyclone 1st Quarter lead.
Max Morris crossed the goal line on a 10-yard pass from Torin Lawrence in the 2nd, with Lawrence adding the P.A.T. run for a 25-0 half time lead.
Ben Menard added a 5-yard TD in the fourth quarter, with George Bryant adding the P.A.T. for the Cyclone 32-6 win.
Lawrence, Menard, Nathan Burchill, Pounds, Dray Benedict, Jake Llewelyn, Carnachan, and Gabe Blenis led the stiff Cyclone D. Blenis also had a fumble recovery.
The Cyclone “B” Team will play this Sunday at noon in Utica, taking on Utica in the League Playoffs. The Cyclone “C” Team will play North Utica in its’ final game. The Cyclone “D” Team will also play its’ final game versus North Utica. The Cyclone cheerleaders will compete in the New York State Cheer Championship at Onondaga Community College on Saturday, October 24.
