Greene church seeks winter clothing for less fortunate
GREENE—As winter approaches and temperatures drop, organizers at Berean Bible Church in Greene are asking the community to give the gift of warmth by donating to a great cause.
Winter coats and jackets of all sizes from infant through adults are needed for those in our community who cannot afford to purchase.
According to organizers, the absence of local thrift-stores or second-hand clothing retailers coupled with the high cost of new winter parkas and jackets has forced many families and elderly to face making that hard decision of being warm though the winter or paying bill.
This season, a special call out for children’s and larger adult sized coats has been place.
If you go through your closets or storage, you may find that you have coats that are too big, too small or just outgrown.
Donated items should be clean, and in gently-used or new condition. Snowsuits and other cold weather accessories such as hats, mittens, scarves and gloves are also needed.
Donors should label and drop off items at the Berean Bible Church on Sunday or weekday mornings.
All collected coats and accessories will be offered free to anyone in need in late November or early December, and those needing winter clothing should monitor The Evening Sun for the exact dates of the give-away, or contact Joy Coletta at 843-9209.
