GREENE — The Chenango River Theatre (CRT) announced this week that NY State’s Council on the Arts (NYSCA) Theatre Panel has awarded a three-year grant to support its overall operations.

The grant award — $7,000 per annum for fiscal years 2016 through 2018 — reflects a 40 percent increase in the amount CRT has received in past years.

Chenango River Theatre is the only nonrofit, professional theater in Chenango County to receive direct NYSCA funding, and one of only two in the greater Binghamton area.

Funding is based on excellence in performance quality, coupled with fiscal responsibility, and is awarded by a statewide peer panel review of similar theater companies across NY state. CRT has received NYSCA funding annually, becoming eligible to apply to NYSCA.
