Guilford justice resigns amid accusations of impatience on the bench
GUILFORD – A Guilford Town Justice has stepped down amidst allegations that he showed a lack composure during traffic and eviction cases while on the bench.
Guilford Town Court Justice David Daniels was investigated by the NYS Commission on Judicial Conduct after a complaint was received by the Commission in August that he “exhibited impatience and intemperance toward participants” during court proceedings.
The Commission, which reviewed the matter on Dec. 10, also addressed charges that Daniels made comments suggesting that he had prejudged cases, failed to make proper audio recordings of court proceedings, engaged in unauthorized ex parte communications, and presided over one case involving his former attorney without disclosing the relationship to the parties.
