Multi-talented Bill Gorman to be honored at Chenango River Theater Winter Gala
GREENE – Chenango River Theatre’s upcoming winter gala will honor Binghamton’s own Bill Gorman, well-known actor, photographer and teacher, for his outstanding contributions and service to the area’s first professional, non-profit theatre company.
Gorman recently rotated off CRT’s board, having served two different stints as Board President over the last few years while helping guide the company’s growth as CRT approaches its tenth season.
As one of the Binghamton area’s only Equity actors, Gorman has performed at CRT in “Other People’s Money” (2008), “Broadway Bound” (2012), and “Heroes” (2014). Overall he has appeared in more than 150 productions, including work with Syracuse Stage, Hangar Theatre, Kitchen Theatre, Cider Mill Playhouse, Vermont Stage, Bloomsburg Theatre Ensemble, South Carolina Rep, and others.
Gorman originally earned his union (Equity) card in NYC productions, including “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde,” “The Diviners” and “Julius Caesar.”
For WSKG, Gorman has narrated a number of Brian Frey’s Emmy Award-winning documentaries, and directed both “Twilight Zone Live” (earning Gorman a New York State Emmy Award nod) and Laura Cunningham's “Frack You.”
CRT’s ninth annual winter gala fundraiser will be held at the Silo Restaurant just outside of Greene off State Highway 206 on January 23 from 6–9:30 p.m.
An admission fee of $65 per person includes a wide variety of the Silo’s famed appetizers, carving stations with a selection of meats, in addition to a wealth of delectable desserts and pastries.
Complimentary wine, beer and soda are also included, and reservations are recommended.
Old Friends, one of Binghamton’s favorite bands,will entertain guests throughout the evening.
Open to the public and featuring over 100 items donated by area merchants, the silent and live auctions include great bargains on vacation trips, fine artwork, jewelry, sports memorabilia and gift certificates to area attractions and restaurants.
