UV overtakes Sidney by one point

NEW BERLIN – The UV boys’ basketball team edged a win Friday night against the Sidney Warriors Friday night.

At the final buzzer, the UV Storm took away a win, 44-43.

“We played solid defense and rebounded the ball strong,” said coach Matt Osborne.

Ethan Grey led the Storm with ten rebounds and seven blocks.

Up by seven at the end of the first, the Storm continued momentum to add another six points in the second quarter.

At the half, UV led 21-19.

UV’s Ryan Postma was the only player from either team to score a three-pointer in the first half.

In the second half, the Warriors’ Kyle Smith put up three three-point shots in an attempt to take the lead over the Storm.

While the score remained close throughout, the Warriors never led throughout the game.

Osborne said the Storm was able to keep the lead by making free throws down the stretch.

Tyler Simmons and Brett Hanslmaier each had six rebounds and one steal.

Postma had four rebounds and three steals.
