Man arrested for stealing chainsaw

NORWICH–The New York State Police at Norwich arrested James E. Baxter, 22, of Bainbridge on Jan. 21, 2016.
Baxter was charged with the class D felony of burglary in the third degree.
The arrest occurred following a tip the New York State Troopers at Norwich received, advising them of an alleged theft of a chainsaw from a garage in the Town of Coventry.
An investigation determined that in late 2015, Baxter had allegedly entered a garage without permission and stole a chainsaw valued at approximately $250. Troopers were able to recover the stolen item.
Baxter was arraigned in the Town of Coventry Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 property bond. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Coventry Court on Jan. 27, 2016.
