Shaver continues NHS Indoor Track record-breaking form

CORTLAND – Senior Katelyn Shaver followed in the footsteps of her teammates Thomas Reilly and Caroline Stewart, breaking the NHS indoor track school record in shot put, with a throw of 38 feet, 5 ½ inches at the Finger Lakes Invitational held at SUNY Cortland last weekend. Brooke Bonney held the previous record of 37 feet, 11 inches.
Reilly and David Bernstein both impressed yet again, finishing first and second respectively in the shot put competition. Reilly threw a whopping 50 feet, 5 ½ inches, while Bernstein threw a notable 44 feet, 11 ½ inches.
Other notable performers for the Tornado were Ben Ericksen, who finished fourth in the 3200 meters, with a time of 10:19.81 and Emily Shattuck, who also placed fourth in the women’s 55-meter dash, with a time of 7.69.
Both the Norwich men and women’s teams finished ninth overall at the Invitational. Corning, once again, topped the men’s division, with 59 points, while Horseheads finished atop the women’s division, garnering 56 total points.

3200 Meter: Ben Ericksen, ran 10:19,81, placed fourth; Stanton Baker, ran 12:34.64, placed 19th; 600 Meter: Noah Bufalani, ran 1:35.47, placed eighth; Sprint Medley Relay: David Berger, Noah Bufalani, Eric Conant, James Heath, ran 4:04.18, placed tenth; Shot Put: Thomas Reilly, 50 feet, 5 ½ inches, placed first; David Bernstein, 44 feet, 11 ½ inches, placed second; 1600 Meter: Ben Ericksen, ran 5:23.65, placed 14th; Noah Marvin, ran 5:25.73, placed 19th; 300 Meter: Eric Conant, ran 40.91, placed 11th; Weight Throw: David Bernstein, 56 feet, six inches, placed first; Thomas Reilly, 42 feet, six inches, placed second.

Norwich women results:
55 Meter dash: Emily Shattuck, ran 7.69, placed fourth; 300 Meter: Emily Shattuck, ran 45.98, placed seventh; Delilah Geislinger, ran 49.01, placed 19th; Shot Put: Katelyn Shaver, 38 feet, 5 ½ inches, placed second; Millinia Brown, 31 feet, 4 ½ inches, placed fifth; Triple Jump: Hannah Klockowski, 30 feet, 4 inches, placed 17th.
