Storm light up Blackhawks on senior night

OXFORD – Oxford played host to fellow Chenango County team Unadilla Valley Storm, Wednesday evening, UV would dominate the match-up from the start, winning 43-20.
Prior to tip-off the Blackhawks recognized three seniors from their squad who will be graduating this coming spring. Sarah Hodge, Leah Karn and Rachel Seiler were the three seniors who were recognized. It should be noted that each of the seniors did manage to get on the board for the night with each notching two, three and three points respectively.
In hopes of ending their 15-game skid in the 2015-2016 season the lady Blackhawks stepped onto their home court for the last time for the year. This latest loss drops the Blackhawks record on the season to 0-16.
UV decidedly jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter outscoring Oxford 16-6. At the halftime break the game was still in reach for the lady Blackhawks as they only trailed UV 23-14.
Mirroring their first quarter performance, the third quarter saw UV explode on Oxford for another 16 on, while only allowing 6-points in return for Oxford.
Oxford’s number 14, Raegan Ehly accounted 10 of half of the Blackhawks on the night, as they would only score 20 total points.
While UV’s number 5, Sierra Badger bucketed 15 on the night, all of which came in either the first or third quarters of play.
This marks Oxford’s last home game on the season but they will be on the road in Afton this Friday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. UV will host Greene high school this coming Friday at 7:15.
