Sherburne-Earlville ends season on a low entering sectional play
CAZENOVIA– The boys basketball team for the Marauders traveled north yesterday Tuesday, Feb. 9 to play the Cazenovia Lakers, losing 63-50.
Write out of the gates, the Marauders fell victim to an impressive offense of showing from the Lakers, as they were outscored 15-8 simply to begin.
“We looked like a team who played a really hard-fought game on the road last night,” said SE coach Kevin Vibbard.
SE was just coming off of an impressive win the night prior to Tuesday, when they defeated Canatsota on the road as well.
“On the road a lot, both nights in hard-fought intense games,” said Vibbard further.
The Marauders would see improved success and second-quarter, as they drew the lead only four at 26-22.
Despite a closely contested game at the halftime point, SE would surrender 17 points to the Lakers in the third quarter.
“We really couldn’t get any stops on defense when he needed them in the second half,” said Vibbard.
The Marauders proved to be consistent, not including the first quarter, they would score back to back to back 14 point quarters, impressive statistic yeah ultimately not helpful in overcoming the Lakers lead.
Cazenovia score 20 points in the fourth quarter to close out the win over SE, 63-50.
Sectionals is next for The Marauders as the seeding meeting to figure out where Sherburne-Earlville will be seeded in sectionals is held this morning, Feb. 10.
