Heggie continues to shine, moves to 6-0

OXFORD – In an earlier edition of the Evening Sun, published on Feb. 24, Jonathan was highlighted, showing off his tremendous potential as an up-and coming amateur boxer from Oxford.
That same competitor, Heggie, a 16-year old student and multi-sport athlete of Oxford Academy High School progressed up to an impressive 6-0 record in his promising amateur boxing career last Saturday night, Mar. 5, following a face-off against a much more experienced opponent, Musa M’Berwa, from the St. Martin’s boxing club, in Rochester. Heggie, who competes at the 150-pound weight class, won this latest bout by decision, at the Syracuse West Area Athletic & Education Center.
Following this victory, Heggie will now shift his focus back onto the high school sports scene, with the varsity baseball season starting. Heggie plans to schedule his next match sometime in early April. It seems as though he will be continuing his father, coach and mentor Peter’s legacy as he continues to rack up wins.
