OTSELIC – A 16-year-old youth was airlifted to a regional burn center following a rural structure fire in the Town of Otselic Sunday night.

According to county dispatch records, the Chenango County 911 call center at 9:24 p.m. dispatched five mutual aid fire departments to the scene a reported structure fire at 2213 County Road 16 near the Plymouth – Otselic line.

Upon arrival, crews confirmed a fully involved house trailer with no entrapment.

While the youth was able to escape the burning trailer, those on scene said he sustained the burns while attempting to evacuate the family's two pet dogs.

The 16-year-old Otselic Valley sophomore is currently in stable condition after being air-lifted to SUNY Upstate Hospital in Syracuse at 9:50 p.m. and is being treated for second and third-degree burns to his upper body, hands and face.
