BAINBRIDGE - Despite jumping ahead to a 6-2 lead after two innings, the Unadilla Valley Storm were unable to hold on in their season opener at Bainbridge-Guilford in a 9-8 loss on Thursday, March 31.
“We led basically the whole game, we were up 8-3 at one point,” said Unadilla Valley Head Coach Jason Miller, “but to B-G’s credit they just didn’t stop.”
Jones led the way for the Bainbridge-Guilford, driving in three runs off of a 2-for-3 day with a triple, double, and walk. Jones also picked up the win for the Bobcats after pitching five innings and giving up two runs.
For Unadilla Valley, Nick Stirone had two RBIs and two runs scored after reaching base three times. Stirone also pitched for the Storm and he would be granted the loss after giving up six runs in four innings.
