NORWICH – One of Norwich’s most distinguishable downtown businesses is gearing up for a milestone anniversary.

First opened in 1921 with a specialty in watch repair, Skillin’s Jewelers has grown to be a local go-to for customers looking for special gifts for special occasions. The business has been a staple storefront in the downtown landscape for three generations now.

“It started as a family-owned business, and we just kept plugging away,” said Hal Skillin, owner of Skillin’s Jewelers.

Skillin has been at the helm of the business for 42 years. Since his grandfather opened the doors 95 years ago, Skillin said the goal of Skillin’s Jewelers has simply been to provide the finest customer service and quality jewelry to the Norwich community.
