Come from behind win moves Oxford to 3-1

HARPURSVILLE – The Oxford Blackhawks traveled to Harpursville to take on the Hornets in a match-up that proved to be a nail-biter with Oxford pulling ahead late in the top of the seventh to win 5-3.

After going down 3-0 to the Hornets early on, the Blackhawks rallied first to earn the tie at three a piece, due to a bases loaded walk.

It was Kevin Davis who singled, due to an error, directly following the walk, that sent Charlie White home for the go ahead score.

“It was a big win for us. We only had one hit through the first five and two thirds of an inning. We were then able to score five runs in our next four outs.

Pitcher Phil Sims of Oxford earned his first varsity win, due to some late game heroics.
