Structure fire Wednesday afternoon

Firefighters work the scene of a structure fire that occurred shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday. The Brisben Fire Department received reports of a brush fire that spread to a riverside residence and came close to multiple propane tanks on Twin Bridges Road, a dead-end road off State Highway 12 in the Town of Oxford. Crews worked for more than an hour to contain the fire in the grass and in the home, stopping any significant structural damage. Brisben was assisted by other fire departments from Greene, Oxford, Coventry, and the Chenango County Bureau of Fire.
