Sherburne Community Chorus to host Spring Concert Sunday
SHERBURNE – The Sherburne Community Chorus will perform their spring concert titled “From the Bookshelf” on Sunday, May 1 at 3 p.m. at the United Church of Christ located in the center of the village of Sherburne.
Under the direction of Anne Caton and accompanied by Rosemary Jaytanie on piano, the chorus will perform music based on the written text. Performances will showcase choral arrangements of famous literature or written text of renowned poets and authors such as Robert Frost, Emily Dickinson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Robert Burns, Langston Hughes, Shakespeare and Walt Whitman, to name just a few.
The Sherburne Community Chorus’ all-volunteer members are dedicated to singing music of the highest caliber and include some of the finest vocalists in the Chenango - Madison County area. Singers represent the communities of Morrisville, Eaton, Hamilton, Earlville, Sherburne, Smyrna, Norwich and Oxford. The concert will also feature guest performances by an instrumental ensemble with Alyssa Jutting (violin) of Norwich, Jenni Larchar (violin) of Sherburne, Martha Berry (viola) of Canastota, Stephen Sabin (cello) of Sherburne and Sue Marson (oboe) of Norwich.
The Chorus will also be joined by a youth choir under the direction of Jenni Larchar that is sure to delight. Please mark your calendars and celebrate May Day with a concert that has special stories to tell.
