Chenango preps for annual Dairy Day

NORWICH – For the past 15 years, Chenango County Dairy Day has been a fantastic community event, drawing hundreds of people to celebrate the history and impact of agriculture in our county.

The day will begin with a parade in the City of Norwich leading to the Fairgrounds where family activities and educational exhibits celebrating Chenango County’s agricultural heritage and the importance of the dairy industry, its past, present, and future will be held.

The planning committee would like local farmers, businesses, community and school groups, and agricultural organizations to be a part of this year’s parade! The parade is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., and will travel from the Tops parking lot in Norwich to the fairgrounds on East Main Street.

“We’ve always hoped for more participation in the parade, such as they have in Cortland for their Dairy Parade,” said parade chair Karen Hoffman. “Since this year mark s the sixteenth annual Dairy Day, we really want to encourage a higher number of entries, even if you don’t work or interact with farmers directly. It’s all to show support for our local farms and the contributions they make to our communities.”
