Monday Evening Musical Club to hold annual ‘Scholarship and Advanced Students Concert’

NORWICH – The Monday Evening Musical Club, now in its 106th year, invites all members of the community to attend its annual “Scholarship Winners and Advanced Students Concert” slated for 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 9 at the United Church of Christ in Norwich.
This year, the Musical Club awarded three scholarships to college bound seniors who will be studying music. Recipients include Breanne Dewey from Oxford on French horn (attending SUNY Fredonia), Carline Higgs from Bainbridge-Guilford on flute (attending College of St. Rose), and vocalist Leslie Tallmadge from Afton (attending SUNY Broome).
All the winners will perform a major work on their instrument during Monday’s concert.
Performing on piano will be Nicholas Deady, an advanced pupil of Anita Humer. There will be additional performances from Humer’s piano scholarship students: Kyle Baker, Colin Bussing, Breanna Dewey.
Meena Conant will present her outstanding vocalists: Amy Branham, Marie Moren, Aria Maholchic and Leona Tyler.
A highlight of the program will be the Select Choir from Norwich, directed by Idll Oguz, singing “Footloose.”
This concert is open to the public. All are welcome to enjoy the young talents, make a free will donation to support the Monday Evening Musical Club’s scholarship fund, and enjoy a lovely reception to eat, meet and greet the performers.
