Calvary Baptist Church to host big name Christian band, Finding Favour
NORWICH - The stage is set to host a big name in contemporary Christian music at Calvary Baptist Church in Norwich.
For the second year, Calvary Baptist will welcome a high-profile name in the Christian music industry to play a concert for the general public. Finding Favour, the Georgia-born musical group whose work has earned much acclaim in the Christian entertainment industry, will perform at the church starting at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 22. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m.
“We believe that music is a great way that God works, so we’re so excited to have opportunities like this,” said Calvary Baptist Church member and event organizer Tina Lindridge. “I know that for whoever shows up, God will work in their heart in some way, some how, and we would be thankful for that. I hope that people will take some good from it.”
Finding Favour came onto the contemporary Christian music scene with the release of their self-titled EP in 2013. The EP had two choice singles, “Slip On By” and “Shake the World,” which saw widespread radio air play and were met with positive reception in the industry.
The band has had continued success with more recent recordings, including “Cast My Cares,” “Say Amen,” and “Refuge.” Their first studio album, “Reborn,” was put out by Gotee Records in 2015.
This will be the second consecutive year that Calvary Baptist Church has welcomed a high-profile name to the area. Last year, the church sponsored a concert featuring the band Unspoken, whose songs that were performed included “Start a Fire,” “Lift My Life up,” “Call it Grace,” and “Who You Are.” And despite an unexpected power outage caused by a passing thunderstorm that day, concert goers still enjoyed a memorable acoustic performance.
“It was a good attendance [last year],” Lindridge said, “but we’re hoping for a bigger attendance this year.”
In addition to an evening of music, anyone who attends the upcoming Finding Favour concert will also have a chance to learn more about the Food for the Hungry, a Christian centric nonprofit organization whose mission is to combat hunger and poverty worldwide.
Ticket prices are $13 each plus a nominal surcharge if ordered online; however, that additional charge is not applicable to tickets purchased at the Calvary Baptist Church office at 75 Calvary Drive in Norwich.
Tickets and additional information are available online at www.cbcnorwich.com, or by calling the church at 334-6698.
