UNADILLA – The Unadilla Valley men’s varsity baseball team fell to 0-9 on the season after losing to Delaware Academy last Tuesday, May 3, by a score line of 8-2.
A slow start defensively led to the Storm’s ninth loss of the season last Tuesday. Delhi got out to a quick four run lead in the first inning, courtesy of some good base running. UV clawed two runs back, but gave up three more in the top of the second inning, due to some poor errors in the field. After that, it was a closely contested game, but the Storm were in too deep of a hole to attempt a comeback, and eventually fell by six runs.
“We started out with some good bats but they went in the freezer or something,” said UV head coach Jason Miller. “The first inning we had two errors and we gave up four runs, but then we put up two so at that point I was like, ‘okay this is going to be a good game’, but then we just kind of fell off.”
