Norwich falls short in showdown with Oneonta

NORWICH – Norwich hosted division rival Oneonta this past Saturday, May 7., in what proved to be one of the biggest match-ups of the season for the Tornado.

Oneonta would earn the tight victory of Norwich at 4-3, in part due to a forfeit from Norwich at second singles.

Now returning to normal scoring match, it was Norwich's Zayn Harper and Austin Benenati who put up a valiant fight but were ultimately edged by Oneonta's Alexa Szenczi and Nicole van der Sommen at 7-5 after splitting the first two sets at 6-4, 5-7, to surrender the match point to Oneonta earning them the win.

Jamison Luke fell victim in first singles slot to Chris Catan, losing 6-1 and 6-2; followed by a loss at third singles when Cameron Edwards battled with Oneonta's Sergi Blabia, only to lose 6-2 and 6-4.
