This year the association awarded two scholarships – one baseball, one softball – each scholarship is worth $750, and is awarded to a deserving senior chosen from 17-different high schools. The list of schools includes: Afton, Bainbridge-Guilford, Binghamton, Chenango Forks, Chenango Valley, Deposit, Greene, Hancock, Harpursville, Johnson City, Norwich, Oxford, Seton, Sidney, Susquehanna Valley, Whitney Point, and Windsor. This year the Umpire Association awarded Norwich senior softball catcher, Jordan Sanford the prestigious scholarship after she submitted “a very impressive essay.” Pictured from left to right are: James and Mary Sanford, their daughter Jordan Sanford, Steve Griffen and Norwich Athletic Director Joe Downey.
