Oxford School Districts to vote on flat budget Tuesday
OXFORD – Oxford Academy School district residents will go to the polls today from 1–9 p.m., to vote on a $19,597,769 budget for the 2016–2017 school year.
Likewise, residents will also decide whether to authorize spending of up to $229,000 to purchase two new 30-passenger school buses; and elect one school board member. A decision on the Oxford Memorial Library budget and election of one Oxford Memorial Library Board Member will also be polled today.
2017's proposed budged, if passed by district voters, will not raise Oxford's school tax levy for yet another year. While the district's expenditures increased slightly (2.69 percent), the district was able to offset an overall levy uptick with capital savings of nearly $340,000.
