Two solid innings of scoring earn SE the win
CANASTOTA – The Sherburne-Earlville varsity baseball team traveled to Canastota this past Friday, May 13. It would take SE two extra innings, but they would come away with a much needed win, defeating Canastota 5-3.
Canastota would jump out to the early lead at 1-0 over SE in the third inning. However, SE would turn things around rather quickly when they saw their hits increase and in turn scored three runs in the fifth inning to take the 3-1 lead.
Canastota would battle back, scoring one run in the fifth inning and tacking on the tying run at 3-3 in the seventh inning.
After a 0-0 inning in the eighth, it was once again SE who would earn the runs, with the two winning runs coming in the ninth, to close out the game, winning 5-3.
“Trevor May pitched seven strong innings, allowing only five hits and two earned runs,” said SE head coach Jay Tackabury. “Aaron Price pitched the final two innings to get the win after Canastota tied things up in the seventh.”
