6 On The Square to host David Gunning of Nova Scotia Friday

OXFORD – Oxford's 6 On The Square is pleased to present charismatic performer David Gunning to its stage this coming Friday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m.
Best known for infusing his shows with his own brand of humorous tales and touching commentary on the everyday - often incorporating story telling into his live shows - Gunning has released ten studio albums, received a Juno Award nomination, has been awarded two Canadian Folk Music Awards, and recognized with eight East Coast Music Awards.
Blending sensitive folk and innovative arrangements into his original and traditional songs, Gunning has rapidly built a solid audience fan base wherever he performs. A far cry from the mass produced Nashville-style song assembly line, Gunning's tenor includes flavors of Irish, Scottish, French Acadian, folk, and country.
He has also been a finalist in the Great American Song Contest, the USA Songwriting Competition, the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, and the International Songwriting Contest.
Purchase tickets online at the website: www.6onthesquare.org at the discounted pre-show price of $18 until the date of the show, or for $20 at the door. Ticket prices for students 18 and under are always $2; please call 6OTS at 607-843-OTS6 to make a student reservation.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., one hour before the start of the performance.
Before the show begins, be sure to view a collection of quilts, hand crafted by Janice Wolfe and Kim Betts.
“These are not your grandmother’s quilts,” said Betts of the exhibit.
The accomplished mother-daughter duo interprets landscapes into exquisitely pieced works of art. They also take quilting beyond the common patterns of their foremothers into the sometimes abstract and colorful piecing seen in modern works of art.
Quilters and non-quilters alike can appreciate not only the stitching but the interaction of colors and dimension displayed in the quilts.
