SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville varsity baseball team hosted Frankfort-Schuyler on May 18, ultimately getting shut out on the night, losing 10-0.
Prior to the start of the contest at 4:30 p.m., SE held its senior night to honor their five graduating seniors: Aaron Price, Ian Fleming, Mike Trask, Ethan French and Cole Mikalunas.
FS would waste no time getting on the board over The Marauders, when they stepped right to the plate in the first inning to knock home four runs in just the fourth inning.
This early onslaught of points, was slowed by some solid defensive efforts by SE, only allowing one run in the second and an additional in the third.
However, SE would see fielding errors once again be their undoing, committing four on the game, while FS played error free baseball.
“We made 4 errors again tonight, which put us in a hole early. Goldsmith is a great pitcher for Frankfort. He really had our guys off balance and uncomfortable at the plate. We have to adjust to good pitching, which we definitely didn't do tonight,” said Sherburne-Earlville head coach Jay Tackabury.
Parker Goldsmith of FS would take full advantage of the SE batters, when he successfully threw 15-strikeouts to help secure the shutout for The Maroon Knights.
“He was un-hittable tonight,” said Tackabury.
On the mound for SE in the game for the first three innings was Aaron Price, before Mike Trask came in in relief. Both Price and Trask allowed three earned runs a piece, accounting for six runs, with the other four runs coming on errors.
Sherburne-Earlville will be home on May 19, at 4:30 p.m. to conclude their 2016 season hosting Holland Patent.
