Suspect of NBT robbery remains at large

EDMESTON - A suspect remains at large after the NBT Bank of Edmeston was robbed Monday.
Members of the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 11:06 a.m. from an alarm monitoring system reporting a robbery at the bank. The alarm company stated that they had received a ‘hold up alarm’ from the bank. Upon calling the bank to verify the alarm, the teller confirmed that a robbery had occurred.
The suspect is described as a white male in his mid to late 20s, approximately 5'7'' to 5'10'' tall and of thin build.
He was last seen wearing light colored pants, a dark colored, hooded sweatshirt, dark colored shoes, a dark colored knit hat and dark rimmed glasses.
He escaped with an undetermined amount of cash.
Following the robbery, the Unadilla Valley Central School was placed on lockdown.
Superintendent of the District, Bob Mackey, said, “We did not allow outside recess or outside physical education after we were alerted to the issues that occurred in Edmeston. We did not release students at 3 p.m. to the buses until we had conversation with local law enforcement in Chenango County to make sure that sending kids home normally was okay. We've been working in conjunction with law enforcement all day. Our school resource officer John Low and business official/emergency response team coordinator Mike Brown and staff here have done a great job.”
Members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office were on the scene Monday, in additon to Otsego County Sheriffs, New Berlin Police, and State Police.
Numerous witnesses have been interviewed, and the investigation is ongoing by the Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office at 607-547-4273.
