Leatherstocking Botanical Society announces upcoming field trips

OTSELIC – The Leatherstocking Botanical Society (LBS) will be conducting several regional botanical field trips in 2016. The first, entitled “Searches in Chenango Balsam Fir Forested Wetlands,” will be held on June 11 (Saturday) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and led by Joseph McMullen.

This trip will explore the coniferous wetlands dominated by balsam fir and white pine which occur along the Otselic River in the Town of Otselic and which appear to be boreal relics. On June 26 (Sunday), another Chenango County field trip, led by Ken Hull and Michael Hough, is scheduled to explore the Ludlow State Forest and environs.
