Troopers, NPD seize drugs, weapons & cash following narcotics sting
NORWICH — Last week, New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, and other Troop C members, along with assistance from the Norwich Police Department, executed a search warrant following an investigation into heroin sales in the Norwich area.
According to authorities, Antonio A. Totten, 54, of Norwich, who was identified as a person of interest of the investigation was located in the City of Norwich; at which time a search warrant was executed.
Totten was found to be in possession of one vial containing approximately one quarter of one gram of crack cocaine, more than $1,800 in cash and a cell phone.
After searching Totten, authorities later executed a search warrant of Totten's residence at the Norwich Inn, Room 16 at 5688 Route 12, just south of the City of Norwich. While searching his residence, police said they discovered an additional thirty vials of crack cocaine – with a total weight measuring approximately 7.5 grams; two wax envelopes containing heroin, brass knuckles, 0.6 grams of marihuana, $72 in cash and two cell phones.
Following the search and discoveries, Totten was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance third degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Totten was arraigned before the Town of Norwich Court, and subsequently remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $250,000 property bond.
A public record search indicates that Totten is also regestered as a level three sex offender.
