“We started Eli(Rodriguez) and he kept us in the game. His command you know, we have a little work to do. But where he is in his pitching career, he did a great job. He only had four strikeouts, but three of the four were huge with runners on base in scoring position, to get us out an inning,” said coach McCullough. “Drew(Walsh) hasn’t pitched since little league, he had some of the biggest pitching performances in the game. Drew had bases loaded and no outs, he helped force back-to-back-to-back pop outs. The parents and fans went crazy.”
Norwich would see stiff early competition they would enter into the fourth inning of play, only up one run over Sidney at 5-4.
“Only five hits tonight, they just weren’t giving us the pitches to hit. We walked 14 times today, that's awesome. When they threw strikes we hit them, but you cant hit if they aren’t going to throw strikes,” said coach McCullough. “We saved our best for last, just like we always do.”
Norwich would take the one run lead and simply run away with the game following the fourth inning, blanking Sidney from the fourth inning on, while scoring three runs in the fifth and seventh innings to close out the win.
“It was a perfect way to cap off the regular season,” said coach McCullough.
