‘Saturdays in the Park’ to continue on July 30

NORWICH - The Norwich Business Improvement District Management Association (BID) along with NBT Bank and Snyder Communications have launched Saturdays in the Park to breathe new life into downtown Norwich.
Saturdays in the Park features live music, cooking competitions, artist demonstrations, and a number of popular vendors in Norwich’s East Park on select Saturdays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Riding on the success and consistency of other great events in Norwich such as the Blues Fest, Gus Macker, the Pumpkin Fest, and the Parade of Lights to name a few, Saturdays in the Park aims to bring people to an event that locals can be proud of in downtown Norwich. This summer will feature four Saturdays in the Park as a test in hopes that it will expand in years to come.
The push for this event follows an effort by BID to bring together farmers market vendors to have a more expansive Norwich market, but an inability to foster a full sense of cooperation and mutual interest led to the birth of Saturdays in the Park.
Event coordinator Mindy Chawgo said, “We couldn’t be more excited to have these events in downtown Norwich. Vendors, interactive entertainment, music, and many more family friendly events in the East Park will only add to the beautiful downtown attractions Norwich offers.”
The first Saturday in the Park took place on July 16, and featured live entertainment by the Beadle Brothers. BID remains excited about the three remaining Saturdays in the Park where they hope to create a fun environment that eventually expands to become a staple in the Norwich community.
The next Saturday in the Park event will take place on July 30, and will feature local singer and former American Idol contestant Kaitlyn Jackson.
