NORWICH – NBT Bank President John Watt presented scholarships totaling $10,000 to six participants in the bank’s Summer Employment Program at its annual Student Career Day held Tuesday, July 19, at the Northeast Classic Car Museum in Norwich.
Eligibility for the scholarship awards is based on several factors, including job performance and the completion of at least one year of summer employment with NBT Bank. Recipients this year were: Shaye Cavanaugh, who was awarded $2,500; and Jennifer Borfitz, Andrew Consolati, Austin French, Robert Jeffrey and Richard Runyon, who were each awarded $1,500.
“I’m pleased to have the opportunity to recognize these student associates for their superior job performance and their efforts in and out of the classroom to prepare for their careers,” said Watt. “Through our Summer Employment Program, we are honored to invest in our area’s youth and support their potential to become future leaders in our company and the community.”
NBT Bank formalized its Summer Employment Program in 2005. This year, 94 students are participating in the program, ranging from recent high school graduates to those working on post-graduate degrees.
NBT Bank Chief of Human Resources and Ethics Officer Catherine Scarlett said, “At NBT Bank, we are very proud of our Summer Employment Program and the benefits it provides to both participants and our year-round employees. The student associates bring a fresh outlook as they support our staff during the summer months. In turn, the program provides them with first-hand experience working in a corporate environment.”
NBT Bank offers personal banking, asset management and business services through a network of 154 banking locations in six states, including New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.
