6th annual Chenango County Ag Tour for legislators a success
OXFORD – On Tuesday, July 26, the Chenango County Agriculture and Farmland Protection Board held their 6th Annual Chenango County Ag Tour for Legislators. The aim of the Ag Tour for Legislators is to give area representatives a first-hand glance at agriculture in Chenango County. This allows producers to connect and share their stories of success and struggle with state and local representatives who can offer support.
This year’s tour focused on the Oxford area. Kutik’s Honey hosted the first two stops where attendees learned the ins-and-outs of beekeeping: creating nucs, pollinating different species of plants across the country, and how to bottle the ‘golden goodness’.
The third stop was Hillside Hops, where attendees were able to take a look inside the only mobile hops pelletizing machine in New York State. The fourth and final stop was Kuhn’s Equipment Repair, where attendees looked at tractors in all different stages of repair.
