Oxford Community Band, Historial Society to host ice cream social Thursday
OXFORD – The Oxford Community Band has scheduled its annual performance in conjunction with the Oxford Historical Society for Thursday, Aug. 4 beginning at 7 p.m. on the site of the Oxford rail depot and Museum located on Depot Street.
The Oxford Community Band will set up outdoors, under the overhang of the authentic D. L. & W. railroad depot, originally built one hundred years ago, at 1 Depot Street. OHS President and Society Officers anticipate being host to over 100 community members in attendance for this pleasurable hour of music, under the direction of Francis Wilcox. They will play marches, show tunes, overtures and novelty selections for the enjoyment of the Oxford community.
As is the tradition with this summer performance, the event will be accompanied by a delicious ice-cream social generously provided by Steve and Sherry Behe and sold at the old fashioned price of five cents per bowl. As always, the performance is free of charge.
