Fallen stars memorial displayed at Oxford Legion

OXFORD - The Fallen Stars Memorial Mural, a special dedication to the heroism of the fallen from New York State, was on display on August 7, at the Fort Hill American Legion Post 376’s Sunday Community Breakfast.

The special exhibit was displayed on easels at one end of the Legion’s dining hall. The Memorial was quite large; the centerpiece measured 8-by-4-foot, with two 4-by-4-foot wings. It featured the faces, names, branches of service, ranks and hometowns of the, to date, 317 men and women who died in Iraq and Afghanistan from New York State. Their listing was chronological, but to find a soldier, a brochure had the names in alphabetical order, with corresponding location descriptions on the mural.
